White House rulings

January 28, 2009

Since taking office, President Obama has suspended all proposed and final regulatory laws for all government agencies. A delay in some of the current import regulations may be affected and perhaps repealed by this administration. Instructions by the White House are that any proposed or final ruling that has not been published in the Federal Register will be withdrawn from publication until reviewed by the current administration. Affected trade matters that may be altered :

The Lacey Act;

Origin Labeling for Agricultural Products.

As of this time “10+2” is currently operational and mandated. There has been some confusion concerning the master bill of lading. Please be advised that both the master bill and house bill are included in the mandated information required by Customs.
