West Coast Truck Drivers Go On Strike

Four trucking firms have been accused of wage theft by truck drivers prompting some of the truck drivers who haul goods from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to walk off the job today.

Barb Maynard, a spokeswoman for the Teamsters union, which is supporting the truckers stated that picket lines have gone up outside the trucking yards of Pacific 9 Transportation, Intermodal Bridge Transport, Pacer Cartage and Harbor Rail Transport. She didn’t know how many drivers from the companies went on strike and the firms could not immediately be reached for comment.

Picket lines will move to port terminals if trucks from the struck firms enter those facilities, potentially hurting the flow of goods if dockworkers choose to honor the pickets.
