CBP Proposes Changes to Importer ID Collection of Information
In a recent Federal Register Notice, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is proposing to revise its Importer ID Input Record (CBP Form 5106) by gathering additional information about a company and its officers. CBP Form 5106 is the basis for establishing bond coverage, release and entry of merchandise, liquidation of entries, and the issuance of bills and refunds. Any person, business or other organization that intends to file an import entry must file a CBP Form 5106 with Customs.
Some of the proposed additional information includes:
- Primary Banking Institution
- Business Structure/Company Officers
- Company Position/Title
- Direct Phone Number
- Social Security Number
- Passport Number
CBP is asking the public for their written comments on this proposed change.
