Longshoremen Strike at East and Gulf Ports Looms as

Negotiations Breakdown

Negotiations broke down yesterday between the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the U.S. Maritime Alliance (USMX) without a deal or contract extension. A strike at East and Gulf Ports seems more likely as the December 30th deadline grows closer. The issue at the heart of the breakdown has to do with payments that ILA members get for each container they handle.
