EPA Works with CPSC Concerning Risks of Cadmium

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is granting a request under section 8(d) of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) to require producers, importers and processors of cadmium and cadmium compounds that are likely to be incorporated into consumer products to furnish the agency with certain health and safety information.  The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) is currently developing exposure limits for cadmium in toy metal jewelry and certain other products.  EPA is working closely with CPSC to address whether a potential hazard exists and whether action should be taken by EPA or CPSC.
